Qiufan Chen is an award-winning science-fiction author, translator, creative producer, curator and president of the World Chinese Fiction Association. His debut novel The Waste Tide was published in China in 2013, and translated into English by Ken Liu in 2019. The novel’s German translation, titled Die Siliziuminsel, was published by Heyne the same year. In 2021, Chen published AI 2041: Ten Visions for Our Future, a collection of texts on the future use of , co-authored by AI-expert Kai-Fu Lee. The German title KI 2041: Zehn Zukunftsvisionen was published by Campus in 2022. The book won the German Business Book Prize (Deutscher Wirtschaftsbuchpreis) in 2022. Chen is currently an Associate Research Scholar in East Asian Studies at the MacMillan Center at Yale University and lives in Shanghai and Beijing.
