Enter this work and encounter DAOmoji, a new god of the internet, and agent of good luck. Through this interactive creation, we join a playful dialogue between talismanic rituals and existential crises, while discovering a critique of the internet itself.

Artist Yehwan Song and sci-fi writer Qiufan Chen composed an interactive website that becomes a site of worship. It is inhabited by DAOmoji, a god that emerges from the internet itself, from the bytes accumulated through online interactions. The god appears in familiar but often dreaded situations such as exams, flight turbulence or work meetings. And they invite visitors to perform different gestures: open and close your eyes, show your teeth or rub your shoulders. These quirky web rituals unlock whimsical charms that can be shared to cope with the taxing effects of climate change and late capitalism. "I am feeling Luckier: How to (dramatically) change your life with FUN" attempts a viral community-building exercise, where people can collect and share cute talismans against dark times.

The artist and writer were inspired by the East Asian tradition of giving charms and a shared critique of techno-utopianism. Their cute and irrational rituals are the answer to a bleak future, and their aim is to provoke cognitive dissonance by mixing naïve hope with techno-solutionism. By performing the digital through a user-unfriendly interface, I am feeling Luckier: How to (dramatically) change your life with FUN contains an underlying critique of the internet itself. It serves both as a connective system between cultures and as a form of Western digital colonisation that ignores different alphabets and reading patterns.
